JAMAICA’S PANTON IS RALLY CLUB CHAMPION DRIVER

Torrential rain tests the skills of drivers and organisers

Jamaica’s Jeffrey Panton has become the first overseas driver to win the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) coveted Champion Driver title, following victory on the weekend’s BRC Winter Rally (November 24/25). Only half the field was on the overall finishers’ list, after competitors and organisers alike battled with the challenges presented by Saturday’s torrential rainstorms in the north of the island where the event was centred.

PANTON ON TOP FORM AGAIN AT BRC WINTER SPRINT

Jamaica’s Jeff Panton slid to victory – twice – in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) double-header Winter Sprint on Sunday (October 8) to maintain his 100 per cent record in the 2017 BRC Driver’s and Class Championships, with one round to go. As drivers dealt with slippery stage conditions, a monumental battle for two-wheel-drive honours was the highlight of a slick event, which drew praise from competitors and officials alike.

PANTON & FENNELL’S SOL RALLY BARBADOS HAT-TRICK

Jamaica’s Jeffrey Panton and Michael Fennell Jnr survived a late-afternoon scare on the final day of Sol Rally Barbados 2017 (June 2-4) to claim a hat-trick of victories in their Ford Focus WRC06, leading home only the fourth podium lock-out by overseas competitors in the 28-year history of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) blue riband event. Despite a heavy hit on the final pass through Padmore, costing 15 seconds compared with their previous run, they had built up a sufficient margin to win by 1m 15.69s.
