Double-header to settle BMF Rally2 Championship

Nine testing special stages in the north of the island on Sunday (October 26) will settle the Barbados Motoring Federation’s (BMF) 2025 Rally2 Championship in a high-scoring double-header final. Jamaicans Jeff Panton, Kyle Gregg and Britain’s Rob Swann head a healthy multi-national entry list of 10 cars as they fight for the title.

Martinique win gives Panton Rally2 points lead

Jamaica’s Jeff Panton and Mike Fennell Jnr won round five of the Barbados Rally2 Championship at the Martinique Rallye Tour over the weekend (July 24-27). While he could not match the pace of island hero Simon Jean-Joseph, who claimed the outright victory by 26 seconds in his Porsche 911 GT3, Panton finished second overall for the fourth time since 2017 and held off a strong challenge from local driver Gregory Buchholzer to win the Rally2 class by 14s.

Rally2 Championship cars set sail for Martinique

The Barbados Rally2 Championship goes regional for the first time this month, round five being fought out at the Martinique Rallye Tour (July 24-27). With the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) competition inscribed on the National Calendar of the world governing body, the FIA, for the first time this year, hopes are high that it will help develop closer ties in the regional motor sport family.

Shake-up for Rally2 Championship front-runners

Jamaica’s Jeff Panton, who won the Barbados Rally2 Championship in 2023, and reigning champion Josh Read will drive Ford Fiesta Rally2s for the rest of the season. Panton’s Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo has been sold to Suleman Esuf, who returns to the FIA R5 class, while confirmation of entries for Stan Hartling and son Ben further increases the record number in the category for BCIC Rally Barbados to 20.

Shakedown Stages will test readiness for BCIC RB25

Sunday’s (April 6) BRC Shakedown Stages has attracted an entry of 60 cars, as crews from home and abroad ramp up their preparations for BCIC Rally Barbados 2025 (May 30-June 1) in just eight weeks’ time. With nine stages in the north of the island, the first closed road rally of the year will be a valuable test of competitors’ readiness for the island’s premier event.

Five-time winner Panton set for 20th Rally Barbados

Jamaica’s Jeff Panton is due to compete in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event for the 20th time this year, three decades after his first visit in 1994. Driving his Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo, the five-time winner is entered in Rally Barbados 2024 (May 31-June 2) leading a three-strong team from his home country, joined in the FIA R5 class by Kyle Gregg, while Horatio Brown moves up to SuperModified 2.

Charities benefit as Panton wins R5 Rally Championship

Jamaica’s Jeff Panton has won the 2023 R5 Rally Championship presented by First Citizens in his debut season driving a Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo, his first non-Ford rally car for more than a decade. With the title chase in mind, he paced himself in last Sunday’s (October 22) final round, the BRC Winter Rally, finishing third as Mark Maloney claimed his first R5 win after a ding-dong battle with Britain’s Rob Swann.

Nine crews entered for final R5 Championship weekend

Nine crews from home and overseas, equalling the biggest entry list for the year, are preparing for what have today (Tuesday) been confirmed as the final three rounds of the 2023 R5 Rally Championship presented by First Citizens. On Saturday (October 21), they will tackle the Motoring Club Barbados Inc (MCBI) Hammertime Double-Header Sprint in the north of the island, with the action switching to the south-east for Sunday’s Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Winter Rally.
