Martinique win gives Panton Rally2 points lead

Jamaica’s Jeff Panton and Mike Fennell Jnr won round five of the Barbados Rally2 Championship at the Martinique Rallye Tour over the weekend (July 24-27). While he could not match the pace of island hero Simon Jean-Joseph, who claimed the outright victory by 26 seconds in his Porsche 911 GT3, Panton finished second overall for the fourth time since 2017 and held off a strong challenge from local driver Gregory Buchholzer to win the Rally2 class by 14s.

Battle lines drawn for a tight 2wd fight in BCIC RB25

Six different drivers have won the coveted Top 2wd Trophy in the last six editions of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event, the toughest title to win, and BCIC RB25 could add a seventh name to that list in three weeks’ time. The opposition for the traditionally dominant local stars includes two-time European Rally Champion Simon Jean-Joseph and former American Rally Champion Barry McKenna.

Jean-Joseph confirms Porsche for BCIC RB25

Two-time European Rally Champion Simon Jean-Joseph will return to Barbados for the first time since 2016 to compete in BCIC RB25. He will be joined in a two-car attack on the event from his island home by former National Champion and organiser of the Martinique Rallye Tour (MRT), Willy Nallamoutou-Sancho.

The winds of change look set to blow through Sol Rally Barbados next year, as the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), which celebrated its 60th Anniversary in 2017, marks the 30th running of its blue riband event. With the two Ford Focus World Rally Cars which have won six of the past seven events currently advertised for sale in the UK and the Club preparing to switch to its new 2019 to 2021 Vehicle Regulations, exciting times are ahead for island rallying.
