Six new names are listed among the 22 overall and class champions confirmed today (Friday) by the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) following a successful 2025 season. More than 230 competitors regularly participated in the Club’s varied motor sport disciplines, with a record number of 70 local crews starting its premier event, BCIC Rally Barbados.
Jamaica’s Kyle Gregg is a BRC Champion for the first time, adding the 4wd and FIA R5 class titles to his victory in BCIC RB25. Those who boosted their cvs include Edward Corbin, Champion Driver for the third time, and Rhett Watson, who becomes the only four-time winner in 15 years of the 2wd Championship, also SuperModified 2 Champion.
In the Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship, Leslie Alleyne and Chris O’Neal further extended their record totals as Champion Driver and Navigator to nine and eight respectively, while Alexander and Chelsea Gill (nee Clarke), who were married in June, are first-time Class B Champions.
And there was family success in Autocross, too: Geoff Ullyett is the Champion Driver, his first motor sport title for nearly 10 years, while his son Daniel won both the Junior and Motoring News Rookie Championships.
Corbin adds this year’s Champion Driver title to those of 2022 and 2019. Apart from an engine failure in his Daihatsu Charmant in the reverse direction of the Summer Sprint in August, he won the SuperModified 1 class every time, his DNF covered by the dropped score rule and giving him the maximum possible 148 points.
Kurt Thompson finished the season four points adrift, beaten once in Modified 4 by his brother Mark, as they battled in matching Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IXs, with two-time Champion Driver Neil Corbin third, scoring 136 to win M2 in his Toyota GT86 CS-R3. Gregg (Ford Fiesta Rally2) was fourth overall, Watson (BMW M3) fifth and Ryan Wood sixth, winning Clubman 3 in his BimmaCup Too.
Also BMW-mounted were first-time class Champion David St Hill, who won M3, and David-Anthony Balgobin, who became the fourth different C2 Champion in four years, adding a first rally title to his Autocross Rookie win of last year. Victory in C1 gave Shawn Brathwaite (Toyota Corolla) his first Rally Club class win, while Mark Huggins (Daihatsu Charmant) won the Open Class (formerly Group B) for a second time.
Ullyett won the BRC Autocross Championship outright and the 2wd Race Tyres class in a Caterham Seven 310R, victory in all five rounds at Bushy Park giving him the maximum possible 75 points. The top two in the 4wd Street Tyres class, Tfphill Juman (Evo VII) and Jason John (Subaru Impreza STi) finished second and third on 73 and 61 points respectively, with Callum Kirton (BimmaCup) and 2wd Street Tyres Champion Andros Welch (Toyota GT86) completing the top five. Sameisha Williams (BimmaCup) won the Ladies Category.
Multiple MudDogs Champions Alleyne and O’Neal (Suzuki Jimny) missed the final round of the Championship, which was won by Ben Norris and Kirk Watkins (Jeep Rubicon), which secured them second place overall, ahead of the Gills in (Isuzu D-Max). Their margin of victory in Class B was just four points, beating Chelsea’s sister Rebecca Clarke and navigator Austin Barber.
