Caterham Motorsport set to light up Bushy Park
Nearly 12 hours of slipstreaming, sideways wheel-to-wheel action are on the cards as Champions, race winners and podium finishers from the 2025 UK race season compete in the second Caterham Caribbean Cup at Bushy Park Barbados on Friday and Saturday (December 5/6).
Organised by Bushy Park Motorsports Inc (BPMSI) with a team of officials from Caterham Motorsport, track action is scheduled to start at 12.30 on both days, with a mix of Sprint and Enduro events in daylight and under floodlights. There are mandatory Joker Laps in all races taking drivers over the Rallycross Bridge, creating a longer lap time, which local fans will remember from the Suzuki Challenge Series Swift Cup.
Heading the entry in the eight-strong Roadsports category are three front-runners from the Caterham Academy, which has introduced more than 1200 drivers to motor sport since 1995. While 2025 moobob Academy Champion Max Richardson is not entered, Matt Fox, Kyle Townend and Richard Davies, who finished second, third and fourth, are all on the grid and, with three wins and eight further podium places between them, action will be hot.
Fox won two races and finished lower than fourth only once on his way to falling just three points shy of claiming the title, while Townend’s first-ever race win came in the final race at Silverstone. Davies will share with John Bond, who finished 10th in the Academy this year, while Townend benefits from the experience of Charlie Lower, who raced at Bushy Park in CCC23 with his brother Zach.
The biggest class is Caterham Seven 270R, with 11 entries, many drivers graduating from the Bilstein Roadsports Championship, led by 2025 Champion Will Harris. Harris, his brother Charlie, Craig Evans and Scott Helme won nine of the 14 races between them, with a further 17 podium finishes, so more close racing is in prospect.
Will Harris shares a car with father Steve, while brother Charlie shares with Chris Buck, both these two postponing their birthday celebrations from today (December 4) until at least Saturday night, once racing is done. Competition will come from Nick Highton, Henry Speeks and Harrison Cavers, who finished third, fourth and sixth in the 270R category this year, former Academy Champion Highton returning to Bushy Park with two-time Caterham Seven UK Champion Lewis Thompson to settle unfinished business.
All five cars in the Caterham 310R class are being shared, including the sole Barbadian entry, father and son Geoff and Daniel Ullyett. While he only turned 16 last week, Daniel has already joined his father as a multiple Champion; they have seven Barbados Karting Association (BKA) Champion Driver titles between them and this year Geoff won the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Autocross Championship driving the 310R they will share this weekend, with Daniel the Junior and Rookie Champion in his BimmaCup.
While the Ullyetts have extensive experience of Bushy Park – Geoff is also a former circuit racing champion – they will be facing James and Tom Emson (another father and son team), who dominated the 270R class at CCC23, winning the floodlit and daytime one-hour Enduros, two of the four Sprints and claiming five of six fastest laps.
Spectators are welcome through the Pit Gate to view from the Open-Air Suites; admission is BBD $15 and food and drink will be on sale.
