Rally Club honours its competitors and volunteers

Champions were celebrated and volunteers thanked for their commitment to motor sport during a convivial evening as trophies and keepsakes were presented at the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Annual Prizegiving last Thursday (March 26).

  Competitors from the grass roots disciplines of Autocross and MudDogs off-road navigational events arrived at the BCTSA Clubhouse, Searles, Christ Church, to join rally crews following the Briefing Meeting for last Sunday’s Shakedown Rally.

Shakedown Stages win a confidence boost for Read

Josh Read and Mark Jordan laid down an early marker for BCIC Rally Barbados 2026 with a measured victory in Sunday’s (March 29) Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Shakedown Stages. Although others set the fastest stage times, they kept their Ford Fiesta Rally2 ahead from the second of nine special stages, winning by exactly two seconds.

Shakedown Stages the first big test for BCIC RB26

Nine stages in the north of the island in Sunday’s (March 29) Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Shakedown Stages will give crews from home and abroad their first big test ahead of BCIC Rally Barbados 2026 (May 29-31). Fifty-one cars will line up for the first closed-road rally of the season.

  Seeded at number one in the running order published at last night’s (Thursday) Briefing Meeting at the BCTSA Clubhouse, Searles, Christ Church, is Jamaica’s Kyle Gregg (Ford Fiesta Rally2). Victories in BCIC RB25 and the BRC Winter Rally last October contributed to him winning the 4wd Championship.

New drivers for Barbados Rally2 Championship

Two-time Barbados Rally2 Champion Jeff Panton will face a revised cast of players when he starts his title defence at the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Shakedown Stages on Sunday (March 29). Incoming drivers and new car/driver combinations promise to make the championship’s fifth season most competitive yet.

Cadet racer Norris leads BKA points after round two

With four race wins in the Easykart 60cc Cadet class in Sunday’s (March 22) second round, eight-year-old Edward Norris is the new leader of the 2026 Sectus Technologies Barbados Karting Association (BKA) Championship.

  Five drivers won races across the three classes and another nine claimed podium finishes in the 12-race programme during a hotly-competitive Crane & Equipment Raceday at Bushy Park Barbados, briefly interrupted near the end by heavy rain.

Bushy Park’s commitment increased for BCIC RB26

Bushy Park’s key role in the staging of the region’s biggest annual motor sport event, BCIC Rally Barbados, has been further expanded for 2026. For the first time it will host the Central Service Park for the entire event, from the opening Friday night floodlit SuperSpecial to the Sunday afternoon finish.

Motorsport puts safety at the top of the agenda

With safety paramount at all times, motor sport made a stand against unruly spectators today (Sunday). Competitors cheered when the Motoring Club Barbados Inc (MCBI) abandoned Spring Blaze 26 half-way through, despite it bringing their opening weekend of the year to an abrupt halt.

  The decision was endorsed by the island’s governing body, the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) and the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), which organises the island’s premier event, Rally Barbados.

MCBI Championship opens with two days of action

Island motor sport fans will be heading to St John on Sunday (March 15) to watch more than 50 cars entered for the first closed-road speed event of the season, the Motoring Club Barbados Inc’s (MCBI) Spring Blaze 26. The MCBI Championship opens on Saturday, alongside the BimmaCup BB Double-Header at the Vaucluse Raceway in St Thomas, ending the long winter break with an action-packed weekend.

Global Jamaican star McConnell enters BCIC RB26

Fraser McConnell, Jamaica’s most successful driver in international motorsport, will finally tick the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event off his bucket list this year. Having first visited more than a decade ago, he has entered BCIC RB26 (May 29-31) in a Team Frazzz Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX with Justin Morin as co-driver.

Gill and Mendes win season’s first MudDogs Safari

Reigning Class B Champion Driver Alexander Gill claimed his first overall victory in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship on Sunday (March 8). With new navigator Gary Mendes alongside in his Isuzu DMax, Gill won the Ace H & B Hardware March Safari by just 16 penalty points.
