With four race wins in the Easykart 60cc Cadet class in Sunday’s (March 22) second round, eight-year-old Edward Norris is the new leader of the 2026 Sectus Technologies Barbados Karting Association (BKA) Championship.

Five drivers won races across the three classes and another nine claimed podium finishes in the 12-race programme during a hotly-competitive Crane & Equipment Raceday at Bushy Park Barbados, briefly interrupted near the end by heavy rain.

Having shared race wins two apiece in last month’s opening round with Finn Cox, Norris had an eight-point class lead ahead of Sunday but trailed former Champion Driver Jacob Mayers by four points in the overall standings. Fastest in both Practice and Qualifying, Norris executed a perfect race day, claiming four fastest laps along the way, turning that deficit into a five-point lead over Mayers.

In the opening race, Cox finished second, with Hunter Edwards promoted to third after Ava Mayers was handed a 10secs penalty for causing avoidable contact. Edwards led the second race until Norris passed him at half-distance, with Mayers finishing third, then Mayers picked up two second-place finishes, ahead of Cox and Shamir Eversley, who snatched third place from Edwards a lap from home.

Ava’s elder brother Jacob was fastest in both Practice and Qualifying of the Easykart 125cc runners, leading Aaron Blackett home in the opening race, with reigning 100cc Champion Aeden Bruce emerging third after a lively battle with Cody Mark. Bruce then claimed his first 125cc win in the second race, with Blackett again second and Mark third, Mayers losing second place to a 10secs bumper infringement penalty.

Mayers overhauled Blackett at half-distance to win the third race by just nine-tenths of a second, with Sebastian Thompson claiming his best result of the season in third, then the final encounter was delayed by rain. When it got under way on a wet track, it produced the closest finish of the day, Mayers just 14/100ths ahead of Blackett as they crossed the line, with Bruce another four-tenths adrift.

Oliver Judd was the highest points-scorer in the 100cc class, where there were also a couple of close finishes. Jaydn Brathwaite was fastest in Qualifying and beat Judd by just under two-tenths in the first race, with Jordyn Hinkson third, but Judd won the remaining three races, with Brathwaite and Hinkson completing the podium.

While he twice enjoyed a large margin of victory, particularly in the second race as the others scrapped mightily behind him, he had to fight hard for the final win of the day, taking the lead two laps from home to win by seven-tenths.
