LOOSE STAGES RALLY POSTPONED

The start of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) loose season, slated for this Sunday, July 25, has been postponed. A combination of the recent bad weather and the amount of repair work necessary to prepare the courses for competition has forced the 11th-hour decision.
A new date for this event will be announced once agreement has been reached between the BRC and the Barbados Motoring Federation, which controls the island’s motor sport calendar.

McCONNEY AND CRONEY WIN JUNE SAFARI

Philip McConney and Kenny Croney in their Suzuki Samurai defeated all-comers - and the elements - to claim victory in last Saturday's 4 x 4 June Safari, the second round of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Ruf 'n' Tuf Navigational Championship, sponsored by Barbados Industries Ltd.
At the end of a demanding route, one section of which had to be cancelled as the hill had been rendered impassable by heavy rain, McConney and Croney had a total of 1500 penalties. Second were David Stoute and Robin Hinds, who collected 3200 penalties in their Toyota Hilux.

ISLAND’S OLDEST MOTOR SPORT EVENT THIS WEEKEND

Preparations are well under way for the 4 x 4 June Safari, to be run by the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) on Saturday (June 26); it is the second round of the Club’s increasingly popular Ruf 'n' Tuf Navigational Championship, sponsored by Barbados Garment Industries.

MUD DOGS INTO BATTLE AGAIN

The tough reputation earned over more than 50 years by the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) longest-standing event looks set to be maintained when the Shelbury Construction June Safari runs off over the weekend of June 28/29. The second round of the 2008 BRC Mud Dogs Safari Championship - the season’s most important navigational event - promises once again to challenge man and machine, in much the same way as ‘The June Rally’ has done every year since 1957.

CORBIN LEADS RALLY CLUB TITLE CHASE

The title chase continues at the Vaucluse Raceway on Sunday (June 20), where the third round of the VRW RallySprint Cup is also a counter toward the BRC championship.
