Corbin, Maloney and Wortman win ULTRAFEST Finals

Neil Corbin, Mark Maloney and Trinidad and Tobago’s Justin Wortman won the KnockOut Finals at the ULTRAFEST RallySprint yesterday (Saturday) at Bushy Park Barbados. The last three head-to-head races of more than 60 during the afternoon were run as the sun was setting and the venue’s all-arena lighting turned on, after which some of the island’s leading drag racers kept the crowd on their feet much later into the evening.

Non-stop RallySprint action at ULTRAFEST Saturday

Drivers from Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, the Turks & Caicos Islands and the UK will join local aces for five hours of non-stop track action at Bushy Park Barbados on Saturday (November 19), where ULTRAFEST will host the final round of the R5 Rally Championship, presented by First Citizens. The RallySprint will feature more than 80 short sharp head-to-head races on the same two-lane three-kilometre layout that was used for the Race Of Champions in 2014.

Jeffrey and Guyana win Radical Caribbean Cup titles

 

Guyana’s Kristian Jeffrey clinched the 2022 Radical Caribbean Cup (RCC) by a margin of just five points with what he later described as a “do or die effort” on Sunday (November 13), winning the final race of the season on the South Dakota Raceway. And there was a double celebration for the ecstatic home crowd, as Guyana won the inaugural Nations Cup, despite Barbadian brothers Stuart and Mark Maloney closing the gap to a single point with victories in the day’s first two races.

Head-to-head finale for 2022 Radical Caribbean Cup

The 2022 Radical Caribbean Cup (RCC) is heading to a thrilling conclusion this weekend (November 12/13) when the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) stages the International Race of Champions, its first-ever race meeting on the country’s newly-extended South Dakota Circuit. Home favourite and early season points leader Kristian Jeffrey goes head-to-head for the title with Trinidad & Tobago’s Kristian Boodoosingh, who leads the standings by 15 points.

Maloney wins hard-fought Caribbean Junior Karting title

Barbadian Calem Maloney is the new Caribbean Junior Karting Champion. After three days and 12 hard-fought races at Bushy Park Barbados over the weekend (November 4-6), he defeated Trinidad & Tobago’s Rylie Ramroop by a margin of just nine points, with Jamaica’s Zander Williams a further six behind. The lone female in the 16-strong field of regional karters aged from 11 to 17, T&T’s Naomi Jade Garcia was the top scorer aged 14 and under, finishing fifth overall and beating Blake Thompson of Barbados by just one point.

FIA training for region’s young karters ahead of CJKAT

More than 100 laps of wheel-to-wheel racing at Bushy Park Barbados this weekend (November 4-6) will settle the outcome of the second Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (CJKAT), with free access to the usual spectator areas. Sixteen karters aged between 11 and 17 selected by the Karting Associations of Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, including a number of past and present Champions, will assemble at the St Philip facility tomorrow (Thursday).

BMF applauds success at FIA Motorsport Games

The Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) has saluted Calem Maloney and Leon Sealy following their performances over the weekend (October 26-30) at the FIA Motorsport Games in France. In partnership with Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI) and supported by the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA), the BMF was one of 72 National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) affiliated to the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile which fielded 463 competitors in the second edition of the Games.

Dates confirmed for Rally Barbados 2023

Following publication of the Barbados Motoring Federation’s (BMF) Provisional Calendar for 2023 on Monday this week, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has moved quickly to confirm the dates for the 33rd edition of its premier event. Rally Barbados 2023 will run over the weekend of June 3 and 4, with The Rally Show and King of the Hill, the final shakedown and seeding event, on May 27 and 28.

Kart champion Calem Maloney and Esports racer Leon Sealy are on their way to France to represent the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) in the FIA Motorsport Games this weekend (October 26-30). In partnership with Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI), the BMF is one of more than 70 National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) affiliated to the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile competing for gold, silver and bronze medals.

Barbados Motoring Federation releases 2023 calendar

More than 50 events are listed on the provisional calendar for 2023 published today (October 24) by the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF). In common with its eight sporting Member Clubs, the island’s governing body for motor sport is looking forward to running a full programme of events next year after three seasons affected in varying degrees by the coronavirus pandemic.
