More than 50 days of motor sport on 2026 BMF Calendar

The first weekend of motor sport in 2026 will feature action from the Barbados Karting Association

More than 50 days of motor sport action are listed on the 2026 Calendar published at the weekend by the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF), the island’s governing body for the sport. From late February through to the last weekend of November, the season offers plenty for the island’s ever-growing competitor and fan base to enjoy.

The Federation’s provisional calendar lists a broad cross-section of motor sport disciplines, from autocross and karting events, through circuit racing, drag racing and acceleration tests to off-road 4x4 navigational safaris, rallycross, rallysprints, single venue and multi-venue special stage rallies and sprints.

These are organised by the Barbados Association of Dragsters & Drifters (BADD), Barbados Auto Racing League (BARL), Barbados Karting Association (BKA), Barbados Rally Club (BRC), Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc (BPMSI), Motoring Club Barbados Inc (MCBI) and the Vaucluse Raceway Motorsports Club (VRMSC).

The first of five rounds of the BRC Autocross Championship kicks off the new season at Bushy Park in St Philip on February 21, with the BKA’s opening round the following day at the same venue. A week later (February 28/March 1) BADD opens its calendar on the St Philip venue’s eighth-mile drag strip.

The BRC MudDogs programme of off-road Safaris starts on March 8, followed a week later by a single venue special stage rally organised by VRMSC (March 14) and the MCBI’s first Sprint of the season (March 15). BARL’s first Bushy Park circuit racing and time attack fixture does not come until April 18/19, while the first of five dates for VRMSC RallySprint or Rallycross events at the Vaucluse Raceway in St Thomas is May 2.

BMF Vice-President – Sport David Williams said: “The BMF and its member clubs can look back on another very positive season. Local participation continues to grow steadily, with new names appearing on entry lists across the board, among them an encouraging number of females competing more regularly in drag racing, karting and off-road navigational events.

“Well over 100 overseas competition cars landed at the Bridgetown Port this year to be used by drivers from around the region and further afield to compete against locals in circuit racing, drag racing, drifting and rallying. While most were one-off visits, there is also a hard core of regional and international drivers who leave their cars here and return time and again for local championship events.”

Editor’s note: the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) is the island’s governing body for motor sport, affiliated to the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). It also represents the interests of its Member Clubs in discussions with Government departments which facilitate the sport in the island, in particular the Ministry of Transport, which permits road closures for an agreed number of events each year. Away from motor sport, the BMF affiliate which answers the FIA Mobility remit is the Barbados Automobile Association (BAA).
