He is the first ever driver from the Caribbean to be inaugurated into the Club.

Barbadian driver Zane Maloney has been selected as the latest addition to the British Racing Drivers Club’s (BRDC) Rising Star programme, and the first in the Club’s history from the Caribbean.

Zane, 15, has broken records in his debut car racing season with seven consecutive race wins in British Formula 4 for team Carlin, and currently stands 37 points clear as championship leader.

By invitation of the BRDC, Zane joins the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Daniel Ricciardo in the Rising Star scheme’s storied history in wearing the traditional ‘blue roundel’ logo.

The BRDC is arguably one of the most exclusive clubs in the world, with Rising Star status reserved only for those achieving outstanding results in the junior categories, best representing the future of British motorsport.

Zane Maloney said, “I’m honoured to be the first driver from the Caribbean to be welcomed into the BRDC’s prestigious Rising Stars scheme. Representing both the Club and Barbados in British F4 means a great deal to me.

The local racing community has been incredibly supportive this season, as have all of my amazing fans back at home. I hope to make everyone proud as I continue my journey in motorsport.”

BRDC Operations Executive Luke Evans said, "The BRDC is delighted to welcome Zane to the Rising Star scheme. Our Scouts have been very impressed with his performances in the F4 British Championship in this, his first season out of karting.

We are confident that he has the potential to enjoy great success as he climbs up the ladder in International motor racing and it is hoped that his involvement with the BRDC will assist his development.

As he continues on his projected career path, it is hoped that he will achieve the results he requires to become a Full Member of the BRDC for which he is eligible. We wish Zane the best of luck on his journey.”
