FORTY ENTRIES FOR SUMMER NIGHTS TARMAC SPRINT

An impressive 40 entries have been received for tomorrow’s (Saturday, August 17) Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint, including all the leading challengers in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships. The battle for points resumes after a seven-week break, with four rounds to go.   The popular Hangman’s Hill to Lion Castle stage, which offers competitors their last chance to score points on tarmac in the 2013 Virgin Atlantic Championship, is expected to attract a significant turn-out of spectators, who have limited opportunities to see night-time competition.   Conor Roach (Clubman Peugeot 106) and Rhett Watson (SuperModified 12 BMW M3) are the joint leaders in the overall title chase, based on class results, with 105 points each (scored from a possible maximum of 108); drivers will count their nine best scores at year-end. Group N leader Geoff Noel (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) is third on 102 points, with Josh Read (SM10 Toyota Starlet) fourth on 96.   Tied in fifth place, each with 92, are Andrew Jones (SM11 Ford Escort MkII), Roger Skeete (WRC-1 Subaru Impreza WRC S12) and Ian Warren (SM10 Suzuki Swift), while the top 10 is completed by WRC-2 class leader Roger Hill (Toyota Corolla WRC) with 88, Andrew Mallalieu, whose 87 points place him second in Group N in his Subaru Impreza N10, and Modified 7 leader Edward Corbin (Toyota Corolla RunX), who has 76.   Competitors are due at the Service Park in Hopewell Plantation Yard by 5.00pm for scrutineering, with the start slated for 6.30pm. The Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint, which is also a round of the Motoring Club of Barbados Inc’s (MCBI) annual championship, will run to the usual speed event format, with one practice run followed by three official runs.   BRC Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint * Provisional running order at August 16 * minor amendments to be made to allow for shared cars   1 Roger Skeete (WRC-1 Sol/Michelin/Simpson Motors/Da Costa Mannings Auto Centre/WTI Subaru Impreza WRC S12) 2 Neil Armstrong (WRC-1 Monster/Sol/Chefette/Digicel/Virgin Atlantic/Gunk/Hankook Tyres/Redline Fuels/Simpson Finance/Simpson Motors Suzuki SX4 WRC) 3 Paul Bourne (WRC-1 Chefette/Banks/LIME/Castrol Ford Focus WRC07) 4 Roger Hill (WRC-2 Esso/Nassco/MotorMac Toyota Corolla WRC) 5 Dean Serrao (WRC-2 Sugar Ultra Lounge Subaru Impreza WRC S9) 6 Ian Warren (SM10 Simpson Motors/Automotive Art Suzuki Swift) 7 Josh Read (SM10 Stihl/Gliptone/Hankook/SDRR/Weetabix/EZone/Coffee Bean Toyota Starlet) 8 Rhett Watson (SM12 Oreo/Chips Ahoy!/Armstrong Agencies/Power King Batteries/Unknown Entity/Hankook Tyres/SpringBoard Marketing Platforms/In support of Little Pink Gift BMW M3) 9 Avinash Chatrani (GpA PowerBass/Sign Station/iShop Barbados/Electric Avenue/Formula 1/Niagra Waters Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI) 10 Mark Thompson (GpN Glassesco Hardware/Stag Beer/NKM Clothing/Local Speed Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) 11 Geoff Noel (GpN Kick Energy Drink/Sentry Insurance Brokers/Automotive Art/CIAC Air Conditioners/Mix 96.9FM/Dewalt Tools Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) 12 Andrew Mallalieu (GpN Terra Caribbean Subaru Impreza N10) 14 Dane Skeete (SM11 Rubis/Michelin/Da Costa Mannings Auto Centre/WTI Peugeot 306 Maxi) 15 Brian Gill (SM12 Coca Cola BMW M3) 16 Trevor Manning (SM12 Ritz/Club Social/Armstrong Agencies/Power King Batteries/Unknown Entity/Hankook Tyres/SpringBoard Marketing Platforms/In support of Little Pink Gift BMW M3) 17 Andrew Jones (SM11 Lucozade/AP Jones Pharmacy Ford Escort MkII) 18 Cliff Roett (SM10 Paulo’s Churasco do Brasil/Nassco/Mark’s Auto Spares/Roett’s Garage Toyota Starlet) 19 Justin Campbell (SM12 C & C Autoservices/Dream Solutions/Acton Corporate Services/Castrol Racing BMW M3) 20 Edward Corbin (M7 Valvoline/Automotive ArtProsales/Klarkodio/Corbins Garage Toyota Corolla RunX) 21 Paul Horton - TCI (M7 Sky Motorsports/Java Island/H Racing/Precision Racing Ford Escort MkI) 22 Jeremy Sisnett (M7 The Tiki Bar/Autolink/Indoor Plant Services Ford Fiesta ST) 23 Jamal Brathwaite (M7 Valvoline Lubricants/Automotive Art/Mackeson Stoute/Ellesmere Quarries/Chicken Pen Racing/Freekz Customz/Codgi's Customs Brokers Mitsubishi Mirage RS) 24 Sean Corbin (SM12 Ritz/Club Social/Armstrong Agencies/Power King Batteries/Unknown Entity/Hankook Tyres/SpringBoard Marketing Platforms/In support of Little Pink Gift BMW M3) 25 Neil Corbin (M6 Nassco/Jason Jones/Auto Solutions/Castrol/Emtage Electrical Toyota Starlet) 26 Rhett D’Andrade (SM9 Rent-A-Tool Daihatsu Charmant) 27 Jeremy Gonsalves (M6 Makita/SSP/Star Products/Yamaha Opel Corsa) 28 Brendon Mckenzie (M6 MCK Motorsport/Turbo Plus/Promotech Computers/Concepts/Do-it-best Quality Paints/Colour XL/Blakey’s/Hasselgren Engineering Inc Toyota Corolla) 29 Mark Kinch (SM9 Toyota Starlet) 30 Shareef Walcott (SM9 Castrol/Melwani’s/Sammy Lee Towing & Recovery/rallymax/Roscoe’s Machine Shop Toyota Corolla) 31 Greg Cozier (Hist Hyundai Lubricants/Barbados Historic Rally Carnival/Sailun Tyres Ford Escort RS2000) 32 Stuart White (Hist Lucky Locks BMW 325) 33 Kenny Cumberbatch (GpB BMW E36) 34 Kevin Cumberbatch (GpB BMW E36) 35 Conor Roach (Club Chattel House Realty Peugeot 106) 36 Sean Cox (M5 Simpson Motors/Gliptone/Johnsen’s/Stihl Suzuki Swift Gti) 37 Trevor Mapp (Club Valvoline Lubricants/Automotive Art/Mackeson Stoute/Ellesmere Quarries/Chicken Pen Racing/Freekz Customz/Codgi's Customs Brokers Mitsubishi Mirage RS) 38 Rommell Martin (Club VV&K Rentals/Dalls Catering/Alien Werks/Dream Solutions Toyota Starlet) 39 Jeremy Croney (Club Warren’s Lubricants/SRG Engineering/Sign Station/Sweet Temptations Peugeot 206) 40 David Brewster (Hist SRG Engineering/Castrol/Innovative Security Solutions/Gittens & Company – Armstrong/USG Products Peugeot 205GTi) 41 Miguel Toppin (Club Peugeot 205)   For media information only.
