Four-way showdown at Black Bess

Barbados motor sport fans will finally see the long-awaited loose surface showdown between the island's four hottest drivers on Sunday (November 3), when the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) runs its rescheduled 2002 Autozone/LAW Motors Championship event at the Black Bess Plantation, starting at 0800hrs.
Trevor 'Electric Micey' Manning (Quaker State/Simpson Motors/Pirelli/GFC Mitsubishi Evo V), was fastest when the revised 3-kilometre course was first used in August, beating Roger Mayers (Automotive Art Ford Escort WRC) by 1.6secs; but that day Mayers had been troubled by clutch problems, which are now sorted.
They will be joined by Roger 'The Sheriff' Skeete and Paul 'The Surfer' Bourne for the first four-way showdown of the loose season. Although he drove in August at the wheel of injured team-mate Brian Gill's Group N Impreza, Bourne will drive the route for the first time in the Banks/Pirelli/Texaco/Williams Industries Subaru Impreza WRC, rebuilt after his high-speed roll on the Texaco Rally in May.
For Skeete, whose Texaco/Michelin/McEnearney Quality/Consolidated Finance/Carib Ford Escort has been brought up to WRC specification in recent months, Sunday will see his debut on the revised course. But no one should be able to claim any advantage, as the course will be run anti-clockwise this time, the opposite direction to the August event.
The Toyota Celica GT4s of Roger Hill (Esso/Nassco/Michelin/Motor Mac) and Richard Roett (Michelin/Esso/Nassco/Lucky Horseshoe/Roett's Garage) are also expected to challenge strongly, while Sean Dowding (Globe Finance/NPK Construction Equipment/Axis Inc Mitsubishi Evo V) will be hoping to repeat his strong performance of the August weekend.
Barry Gale (Castrol/VIBE Fruit Juices/Simpson Motors/Wurkz Engineering/Mix 96.9FM Mitsubishi Evo VI) won Group N last time out, despite rolling off the course on his third run; on Sunday, Gill will return to the class in the Banks/Pirelli Impreza WRX, while Geoff Noel and Harold Morley will complete the Group.
Cliff Roett returns to the Open Modified Group in his Lucky Horseshoe/Roett's Garage/Quaker State Toyota Starlet) where his opposition will include crwod favourite Geoffrey Ullyett (Ullyett's Machine Shop Service/Goodyear Tyres/Argent Lubricants/Sikkens Nissan 150Y).
Action starts at 0800hrs after scrutineering at 0700hrs.
