Manning leads return to Black Bess

Trevor 'Electric Micey' Manning leads nearly 40 of the Barbados Rally Club's (BRC) front-runners back to the Black Bess Plantation on Sunday (September 15) for the second loose-surface event of the BRC's 2002 Autozone/LAW Motors Championship.
Manning (Quaker State/Simpson Motors/Pirelli/GFC Mitsubishi Evo V) and Roger Mayers (Automotive Art Ford Escort WRC) were separated by 1.6secs at the end of the August event, Mayers troubled by clutch problems. The Escort is now refettled and Mayers expects to present a stronger challenge second time round, but he will be facing more than just Manning, as both Roger 'The Sheriff' Skeete and Paul 'The Surfer' Bourne are scheduled to return to action.
Skeete's Texaco/Michelin/McEnearney Quality/Consolidated Finance/Carib Ford Escort WRC has had an engine rebuild, while Bourne has been out of action since a high-speed accident on this year's Texaco Havoline International Stages Rally required major repairs to the Banks/Pirelli/Texaco/Williams Industries Subaru Impreza WRC. The Toyota Celica GT4s of Roger Hill (Esso/Nassco/Michelin/Motor Mac) and Richard Roett (Michelin/Esso/Nassco/Lucky Horseshoe/Roett's Garage) are also expected to challenge strongly, while Sean Dowding will be hoping to repeat his strong performance of the August weekend.
Barry Gale (Castrol/VIBE Fruit Juices/Simpson Motors/Wurkz Engineering/Mix 96.9FM Mitsubishi Evo VI) won Group N last time out, by despite rolling off the course on his third run; on Sunday, Brian Gill is expected to return to the class in the Banks/Pirelli Impreza WRX, while Geoff Noel will complete the Group.
Cliff Roett is another slated to return to action after injury kept him away from the August event, returning to the Open Modified Group in his Lucky Horseshoe/Roett's Garage/Quaker State Toyota Starlet).
Nearly 40 names were on the provisional entry list for the event issued mid-week, although one disappointed former BRC champion's name was scratched - Derek Roach will not be able to debut his exciting Mini Cooper S, as the roll cage has not arrived in the island.

Entry list to follow when confirmed on Saturday
