FAN FAVOURITES HEAD FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2017

Fan favourites and familiar faces from overseas are among the more than 30 entries already received on-line for Sol Rally Barbados 2017. Organised by the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), which will celebrate its 60th Anniversary next year, Sol RB17 will run from Friday to Sunday, June 2-4, with Scrutineering and Flow King of the Hill the previous weekend, May 27/28.

PANKHURST RETURNS TO SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Former British Rally Championship class-winner Terry Pankhurst has unfinished business in the Caribbean, so returns for Sol Rally Barbados 2016 with a self-built machine designed for the task . . . and it all started when the DIMMA Car Styling boss bought an original rear spoiler from an iconic 1980s Group B Peugeot 205 T16 E2.

BIRD SEEKS THIRD WIN ON SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Fresh from back-to-back victories on tarmac and gravel over consecutive weekends in the UK, double Sol Rally Barbados winner Paul Bird has confirmed his entry for this year’s 25th Anniversary event. With Welsh co-driver Aled Davies, he will again campaign the Frank Bird Poultry/Fuchs Titan Race/Hager/Mac Tools Ford Focus WRC08, in which he has won five of seven domestic events contested since Sol RB14.

TINSLEY JOINS SOL RALLY BARBADOS CELEBRATIONS

Members of the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) will not be the only ones celebrating when Sol Rally Barbados 2015 (May 30/31) marks the 25th Anniversary of the Club’s premier event. Having followed it for more than 10 years, British driver Marcus Tinsley will finally get to compete this year, a 30th birthday present to himself.

ANGLIAS “GO HOME” FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

When Scotland’s Allan Mackay returns to Sol Rally Barbados with his Ford Anglia WRC for his fifth visit in 2014, he will be back in what he describes as his rallying “home”. His flamboyant antics have won the hearts and minds of island fans, the fun delivered in double measure in 2013, when son Euan entered alongside him in the Anglia JWRC.

ANGLIAS DOUBLE UP FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2013

Island rally fans who have been thrilled by the flamboyant antics of Scotland’s Allan Mackay and his Ford Anglia WRC for the past three years will have twice the fun at Sol Rally Barbados 2013 (June 1/2), as his son Euan is entered to drive for the first time in what is dubbed the ‘Anglia JWRC’.   Despite a combined age of more than 100, the two Anglia 105Es are among the most lively on the rally scene and promise more than enough sideways action to keep fans entertained.

CELTIC CROWD-PLEASERS CROSS THE CARIBBEAN

  Fresh from their recent exploits on Rally Jamaica, Celtic crowd favourites Glenn Campbell (Northern Ireland) and Allan McKay (Scotland) have confirmed that they will be returning for the 2012 running of the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport international, Sol Rally Barbados (June 9/10).   They are among more than 30 entries already received on-line via the event’s official web site, www.rallybarbados.bb.

ANGLIA BOOSTS WRC ENTRY FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Following a steady rise in the number of World Rally Cars contesting the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) blue riband event, the on-line entries for Sol Rally Barbados (May 29/30) suggest the total will reach record levels again for the 2010 event, which celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the inaugural running of the Club’s International All-Stage Rally.
