BIRD WINS FINAL SOL RALLY BARBADOS SHAKEDOWN

Britain’s Paul Bird won yesterday’s (June 3) Sol Go Further/Scotiabank King of the Hill, the final shakedown ahead of the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International. He is the first overseas driver to win in the five-year history of the event, and goes in to next weekend’s (June 9/10) Sol Rally Barbados in a confident mood.

REGULARS LEAD SOL RALLY BARBADOS INVASION

As preparations move into top gear for Sol Rally Barbados 2012 (June 9/10), regular visitors Paul Bird, Kenny Hall and Martin Stockdale have been at the forefront of the European invasion of the island, which started at the weekend. Scheduled flights carrying competitors and their families will land at the island’s Grantley Adams International Airport every day this week, airlifting a record International entry.

BIRD AND SWANN FLOCK TO SOL RALLY BARBADOS

  Two of the most successful British visitors to the Caribbean in recent years, Paul Bird and Rob Swann, have confirmed their entries for Sol Rally Barbados 2012 (June 9/10) through the event’s official web site, www.rallybarbados.bb. Entered for the fifth consecutive year, both have also become regular visitors to the island for family holidays outside rally season.

BIRD TARGETS SOL RALLY BARBADOS VICTORY

Former UK National Rally Champion Paul Bird will return to Sol Rally Barbados (June 4/5) this year with one aim in mind . . . victory in the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport international; he will once again campaign his Ford Focus WRC08, but in its new Frank Bird Poultry livery, and shod with DMACK tyres.

The response from local, regional and international competitors over the past five months to Sol Rally Barbados 2010 has made it clear that the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) was not alone in wanting to mark the 20th Anniversary of the inaugural running of its International All-Stage Rally in style.

PAUL BIRD ‘IN TRAINING’ FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Runner-up to Kris Meeke in Sol Rally Barbados for the past two years, Britain’s Paul Bird is taking his third crack at the Caribbean’s biggest annual International motor sport event very seriously – once again, his rally car will travel south by air, giving him extra time to brush up on his tarmac technique in readiness for Sol RB2010 on May 29/30.

BIRD’S FOCUS FLIES IN FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

The most recent World Rally Car ever to arrive in the Caribbean touched down at Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados shortly after 1.00pm today (May 20) in the cargo hold of a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747, which was also carrying a large contingent of competitors and supporters heading for Sol Rally Barbados 2009, the Caribbean’s biggest annual international motor sport event.
