DEADLOCK IN BARBADOS RALLY CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

The Barbados Rally Club's (BRC) second one-day Tarmac Rally of the year on Sunday (April 27) may break the deadlock at the head of the championship table. With perfect scores from the first two events, three drivers are currently tied on 32 points - Edward Corbin, Sean Gill and Roger Skeete.

FAMILY AFFAIR IN BRC NAVIGATIONAL TEST

Roger Mayers won the Pro section of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Navigational Test on Saturday (March 29) . . . from the passenger seat, navigating for his father Stephen in a Toyota Hilux. With 1500 penalties, they finished 300 ahead of husband and wife crew, Leslie and Annalee Alleyne, in a Mazda B2500.

RALLY CLUB LOOKS TO THE FUTURE

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) is going back to grass roots to provide a sounder grounding for its current and future competitors, an increasing number of whom are travelling overseas to experience international competition. It has added to its calendar the BRC Navigational Test, replacing the 4 x 4 Safari slated to run on Saturday, March 29.

SKEETE TAKES SECOND BRC WIN OF THE SEASON

Roger ‘The Sheriff’ Skeete and co-driver Dave Crawford tightened their grip on the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Drivers Championship on Sunday; they followed their win in last month’s Cherry Tree Hill Tarmac Sprint with a dominant performance in the BRC Tarmac Rally, run over 12 stages in the north of the island.

Trevor ‘Electric Micey’ Manning and 2002 double champion Adrian Linton return to motor sport action on Sunday (March 16), as the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) organises its first one-day tarmac rally of the season; when entries closed on Wednesday evening, 30 cars were on the list.

SKEETE THE MAN TO BEAT

Former champion Roger Skeete has started the 2003 motor sport season on top form. He comfortably won the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) opening event of the season, the Tarmac Hill Sprint at Cherry Tree Hill on Sunday (February 9), beating the opposition by the best part of two seconds.
Driving the Texaco/Michelin/McEnearney Quality/Consolidated Finance/Carib Ford Escort WRC, Skeete recorded a time of 1m 24.347s on the last of his three official runs; his closest rival, Paul Bourne, could manage only 1:26.277 in the Banks/Pirelli/Texaco/Williams Industries Subaru Impreza WRC.

MAYERS FOCUSES ON THE COMPETITION

The eye-catching new Automotive Art/Shell Helix/McEnearney Quality Ford Focus WRC of Roger Mayers heads the 30-car entry list for the first event of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2003 motor sport season tomorrow (Sunday, February 9).
The Tarmac Hill Sprint, scheduled for an 0800hrs start at Cherry Tree Hill, will give fans their first chance to see a number of new car/driver combinations in action against the clock, plus some familiar machines with new paint jobs; in addition to the Mayers Focus, the list includes:

Roger Mayers and regular co-driver Max Ferri carried the Automotive Art/Mix 96.9 FM Ford Escort Cosworth WRC to victory in the Barbados Rally Club's final loose event of the season, the all-stage rally at Kendal, Guinea and Black Bess on Sunday (November 24).
Mayers took the initiative from the start and remained dominant throughout, fastest on every one of the 11 stages run; at each venue, the stage was once twice in each direction, except Guinea, where the final run in the reverse direction was cancelled after the surface had deteriorated significantly.
