With four rounds run and three to go, starting with the BRC Double-Header Sprint on Sunday (September 29), there is still all to fight for, with a spread of only 10 points across the top six in the standings and 58 available.

The final countdown to Sol Rally Barbados 2009 will be busier than anticipated for some of the island’s rally teams following yesterday’s (May 3) Automotive Art Shakedown Stages; a high rate of attrition left just 27 crews classified as overall finishers from the 47 that started the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 10-stage tarmac event.

CLEAN RUN AT BUSHY PARK GIVES HILL TITLE

After eight events spread across as many months, the 2005 Virgin Atlantic Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Driver’s Championship has been settled by just one point in favour of Roger Hill in the Mobil 1/Nassco/Motormac/Michelin Toyota Celica GT4.
The Toyota dealer emerged from last Sunday’s (October 16) final round at Bushy Park with a clean sheet, victory in the Modified 8 Group, plus the two bonus points as Group leader in each of the day’s two routes; dropping his lowest score of 10 left Hill with a total of exactly 100 points.

CARNIVAL SUCCESS GIVES HILL POINTS LEAD

Roger ‘Ninja’ Hill tops the list of more than 50 drivers who have scored points in the 2005 Virgin Atlantic Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Drivers’ Championship, following an impressive performance during the two international events of last month’s fifth Barbados Rally Carnival.
At the wheel of his Mobil 1/Nassco/Motormac/Michelin Toyota Celica GT4, the island’s Toyota dealer won the Modified 8 classification at the Vaucluse Raceway International RallySprint, then turned in a near-perfect score the following weekend with co-driver Graham Gittens during Rally Barbados 2005.
