Nine trophies for Adrenaline Rush at BCIC RB26

Adrenaline Rush Racing, the family motor sport team founded by patriarch Peter ‘Duct Tape’ Thompson in 1993, has good cause to celebrate after BCIC Rally Barbados 2026 (May 29-31). Eight of the team’s drivers and co-drivers collected class trophies at Monday’s Prizegiving at The Boatyard, with the newest recruit, Chloe Mustor, also crowned Highest-placed Female Co-driver.

  Now with six cars under his wing, ‘Team Manager’ Thompson’s son Kurt says: “A successful event overall, with five of six cars finishing. It was a tough season of preparation, but with the entire team pulling together, we persevered and accomplished. I would like to thank my entire family for the behind-the-scenes support, and we are always thankful to the sponsors for another year”.

  Driving his Citroen C3 Rally2 for the first time in Rally Barbados, the highest-placed team member was Thompson’s younger brother Mark, who finished 10th overall in only his third outing in the FIA R5 category, having moved up from Modified 4 (M4) this year. Mark said: “It was a pleasure to drive a new car, learning the boundaries and gaining confidence. I am looking forward to upcoming events, competing in this new category”.

  After winning M4 for the past two years in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, Kurt finished second in RB26, 22nd overall, after he slipped to fourth following a spin on Saturday and some differential issues. While he fought back on Sunday, the time lost meant a class win was not to be had, but he did recover enough time to chauffeur Chloe to her top female award, passing Scotland’s Peter Stewart and Rachel Matheson during the day.

  Elder brother Neil and co-driver Neil Gilkes were the only team members not to finish, after a gearbox failure in their Evo IX, one of a number of drivetrain issues which struck local and overseas drivers, leaving only five finishers in the 10-strong M4 class.

  Jermin Pope and Pierre Clarke won second in class trophies in M2. Armed with a newer Honda Civic this year after some disappointing results, former circuit racing Champion and three-time Rally Barbados class-winner Pope finished an impressive 31st overall.

  The junior members of Team Adrenaline Rush compete in Clubman 2 in BimmaCup cars, cousins Sebastian and Jayden Thompson, sons of Neil and Kurt respectively. Barbados Rally Club (BRC) 2025 Rookie of the Year ‘Bassy’ finished third in class with co-driver Noah White, with Jayden and Jacob Mustor fourth, a welcome redemption after retiring on the first stage last year when he hit the Bushy Park Rallycross Bridge.
