Bushy Park’s commitment increased for BCIC RB26

Bushy Park’s key role in the staging of the region’s biggest annual motor sport event, BCIC Rally Barbados, has been further expanded for 2026. For the first time it will host the Central Service Park for the entire event, from the opening Friday night floodlit SuperSpecial to the Sunday afternoon finish.

Motorsport puts safety at the top of the agenda

With safety paramount at all times, motor sport made a stand against unruly spectators today (Sunday). Competitors cheered when the Motoring Club Barbados Inc (MCBI) abandoned Spring Blaze 26 half-way through, despite it bringing their opening weekend of the year to an abrupt halt.

  The decision was endorsed by the island’s governing body, the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) and the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), which organises the island’s premier event, Rally Barbados.

MCBI Championship opens with two days of action

Island motor sport fans will be heading to St John on Sunday (March 15) to watch more than 50 cars entered for the first closed-road speed event of the season, the Motoring Club Barbados Inc’s (MCBI) Spring Blaze 26. The MCBI Championship opens on Saturday, alongside the BimmaCup BB Double-Header at the Vaucluse Raceway in St Thomas, ending the long winter break with an action-packed weekend.

Global Jamaican star McConnell enters BCIC RB26

Fraser McConnell, Jamaica’s most successful driver in international motorsport, will finally tick the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event off his bucket list this year. Having first visited more than a decade ago, he has entered BCIC RB26 (May 29-31) in a Team Frazzz Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX with Justin Morin as co-driver.

Gill and Mendes win season’s first MudDogs Safari

Reigning Class B Champion Driver Alexander Gill claimed his first overall victory in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship on Sunday (March 8). With new navigator Gary Mendes alongside in his Isuzu DMax, Gill won the Ace H & B Hardware March Safari by just 16 penalty points.

Three to fight for top female driver in BCIC RB26

Ahead of International Women’s Day (March 8), the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has confirmed that three women drivers will compete in its premier event for the first time in its 36-year history. Welsh newcomer Debby Goodband will join England’s Cheryl Spencer, a 10-year veteran of the event, and local driver Natya Soodeen along with more than 20 female co-drivers in BCIC Rally Barbados 2026 (May 29-31).

March Safari opens new MudDogs season on Sunday

Sunday’s (March 8) Barbados Rally Club (BRC) MudDogs March Safari brings crews together once again after the four-month winter break. It is the first of five rounds in the 2026 Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship which will test the skills of the Club’s navigational rallying fraternity between now and November.

  Eight crews are listed on the running order published after last night’s (Tuesday) Briefing Meeting at Savvy on the Bay, Carlisle Bay, Bridgetown, equally split between seasoned campaigners and those with less experience, who compete in Class B.

Rally Club members ready for start of new season

Drivers and support crews across all disciplines organised by the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) are making final preparations for the start of the 2026 season. Over the first two full weekends of March, rally drivers will begin their quest for championship points, along with grassroots autocross and off-road navigational competitors.

East Riding Stages an ideal test for BCIC RB26

Britain’s first closed-road rally of the year, last weekend’s (February 21/22) East Riding Stages, was an ideal shakedown for seven British crews entered for May’s BCIC Rally Barbados. Regulars Kevin Procter and Rob Swann finished fifth and 10th respectively and newcomer Stephen Pawson 11th, as all seven cars finished the 72-mile event.

Mayers early BKA points leader as six karters win

Former Champion Driver Jacob Mayers is the early leader of the 2026 Sectus Technologies Barbados Karting Association (BKA) Championship. Six different drivers were race-winners at the UpBeat Wholesale Raceday at Bushy Park Barbados on Sunday (February 22) when the BKA’s 40th season got under way.
