Strong entry for second AutoZone/LAW Motors event

The strongest entry yet in the 2002 motor sport season in Barbados has been gathered for the Castrol Rally, a joint Barbados Rally Club (BRC) and Motoring Club of Barbados Inc (MCBI) promotion this Sunday.
The second round of the BRC's AutoZone/LAW Motors Championship, this double-header at Sailor Gully and Pickerings had attracted an entry of 34 at press time, with at least two more drivers expected to come forward. The event will run with the fastest groups going first and, if his crew beat the deadline for preparing his Texaco/McEnearneys/Michelin Ford Escort, will be led away by reigning BRC champion Roger Skeete, with co-driver Dave Crawford.
He will be joined in the top modified classes by the Automotive Art Ford Escort WRC of Roger Mayers and Fiona Packer, which has been dominant so far this season; the Toyota Celicas of Roger Hill/Graham Gittens and Richard RoettBrian Hurley, plus the Nissan Pulsar GTiR of Mark Maloney/Barry Ward are also firm entries, with Paul Bourne/Matthew Staffner expected to confirm within the next 24 hours.
In Group N, the lone Subaru Brian Gill/Ryan Wood will face the Mitsubishis of Geoff Noel/Lesley Alleyne, Barry Gale/Ryan Rodriguez, Harold Morley/Geoffrey Goddard, plus the Proton Wira of Peter Thompson/Winston Agard and the Mazda Familia of MCBI contenders Roger Kelly/Corrie Hinds.
The MCBI's reigning champion Sammy Cumberbatch will have co-driver Rene Blackman to assist him in what promises to be a very competitive group, including his father St Elmo Cumberbatch, Cliff Roett's rapid Toyota Starlet and Greg Cozier's Ford Escort RS2000 Kit Car.

Entry list follows as at 02/04/05
