WINDS OF CHANGE BLOW FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Sol RB19 entries open on-line on October

The winds of change look set to blow through Sol Rally Barbados next year, as the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), which celebrated its 60th Anniversary in 2017, marks the 30th running of its blue riband event. With the two Ford Focus World Rally Cars which have won six of the past seven events currently advertised for sale in the UK and the Club preparing to switch to its new 2019 to 2021 Vehicle Regulations, exciting times are ahead for island rallying.

DOUBLE WINNER BIRD BACK TO SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Sol RB18 “can’t come quick enough” for new co-driver Morton

Former UK National Rally Champion Paul Bird confirmed today that he will enter Sol Rally Barbados 2018, hot on the heels of scoring maximum points in last Saturday’s (February 17) Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally in the forests of North Wales to take an early lead in the BTRDA Rally Championship. This first big result for ‘Birdy’ and his new ‘wing man’ Jack Morton, the BTRDA Champion Co-driver in 2015 & ’16, bodes well for the new season.

BIRD AND SWANN TO FLY IN FOR BRC WINTER RALLY

Double Sol Rally Barbados winner Paul Bird and Rob Swann, who finished second in Sol RB17, will both compete in the final round of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Winter Rally at the end of next month. They will join regional regulars, including Jamaica’s Jeff Panton, who currently leads the BRC Champion Driver title chase, in what promises to be an explosive climax to the domestic season.

BIRD SEEKS THIRD WIN ON SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Fresh from back-to-back victories on tarmac and gravel over consecutive weekends in the UK, double Sol Rally Barbados winner Paul Bird has confirmed his entry for this year’s 25th Anniversary event. With Welsh co-driver Aled Davies, he will again campaign the Frank Bird Poultry/Fuchs Titan Race/Hager/Mac Tools Ford Focus WRC08, in which he has won five of seven domestic events contested since Sol RB14.

BRITISH BROTHERS FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Second-generation British motor sport competitors, brothers Oliver and Philip Hopkins, will both compete in Sol Rally Barbados 2015 (May 29-31), when the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) celebrates the 25th Anniversary of its first International All-Stage Rally . . . but they will not be sitting in the same car.

BIRD STILL SET ON SOL RALLY BARBADOS HAT-TRICK

Despite suffering what he describes as “the biggest crash I’ve ever had” in the Manx National Rally on Saturday (May 10), England’s Paul Bird remains set on a hat-trick of wins in Sol Rally Barbados. ‘Birdy’ was on course for a fourth victory on the Isle of Man but, with three stages to go, crashed out of the lead in spectacular fashion.

Former UK National Rally Champion Paul Bird is targetting a third consecutive victory at Sol Rally Barbados 2014 in the Frank Bird Poultry/Fuchs Titan Oils/Kick Energy/Rapid Solicitors Ford Focus WRC08. The most successful overseas visitor to the Caribbean's biggest annual motor sport international, he is also the first driver to have finished on the podium six years in a row, and would become only the second to claim a hat-trick.

BIRD CLAIMS HIS SECOND SOL RALLY BARBADOS WIN

Former UK National Rally Champion Paul Bird successfully defended his Sol Rally Barbados title at the weekend (June 1/2), crowning a remarkable record in his six years contesting the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International. Second on his first two visits, third twice and now a back-to-back winner, he is also the only driver to have finished on the podium of the island’s premier event six times in a row.

BIRD RETURNS TO DEFEND SOL RALLY BARBADOS TITLE

  Former UK National Rally Champion Paul Bird will face the largest field of World Rally Cars ever assembled in the Caribbean when he returns to the region to defend his title in Sol Rally Barbados 2013 (June 1/2). Thirteen cars, up from the previous record of 11, are entered in the WRC classes on the provisional entry list of 98 crews, revealed by the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) during a media conference today (Monday).

BIRD FINALLY TICKS SOL RALLY BARBADOS BOX

At his fifth attempt, former UK National Rally Champion Paul Bird finally won Sol Rally Barbados at the weekend (June 9/10), describing the experience as “the hardest and probably the best I’ve ever driven since I started rallying.” With a record 99 crews from 15 nations participating in the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International, the organising Barbados Rally Club is celebrating another successful event.
