Record number for BMF training at Bushy Park

A record number of more than 170 volunteer officials and marshals will gather at Bushy Park this week for four days of training organised by the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF). Funded by a successful Cluster Grant Application by the BMF to the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), this will be the biggest-ever exercise of its type in the region and also include participants from Antigua, Guyana and Jamaica.

Extra rounds spice up R5 Rally Championship title fight

Two extra events added to the calendar for the R5 Rally Championship presented by First Citizens look set to spice up the title battle when action in the island’s first-ever national motor sport championship sanctioned by the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) picks up again after the summer break next month. Following Sol Rally Barbados (June 4/5), the top six in the standings are covered by just under 50 points, with the potential maximum on offer now increased to 190 during the remaining four months of the extended season.

Jeffrey and Guyana lead Radical Caribbean Cup

Kristian Jeffrey of Guyana is the early leader of the 2022 Radical Caribbean Cup (RCC) after winning twice in the opening round at Bushy Park Barbados yesterday (July 10). Chief Instructor at the St Philip facility Justin Campbell was the other race winner, while Trinidad & Tobago’s Kristian Boodoosingh claimed three podium finishes in the tightest start yet for the regional series.

Four nations confirmed for Radical Caribbean Cup

Drivers from four regional territories - Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago - will fight for the Nations Cup as well as the individual title in the 2022 Radical Caribbean Cup (RCC) when circuit racing resumes at Bushy Park Barbados tomorrow (Sunday) for the first time in almost two years. The delayed four-round series gets under way at Bushy Park Motorsports Inc’s (BPMSI) first race meet of the season, which will also include races for the Club’s saloon car categories.

Edward Corbin leads the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Champion Driver title chase after five rounds. With nearly 60 drivers having now scored in the 2022 Driver’s and Class Championships, there’s a fresh look to the top 10 this year as newcomers are making their mark in the sport, with numbers also rising dramatically after the pandemic.

Senna Summerbell to enter Radical Caribbean Cup

Jamaica’s Senna Summerbell, son of five-time Caribbean Motor Racing Champion (CMRC) David, will join the grid for the third season of the Radical Caribbean Cup (RCC) which will get under way at Bushy Park Barbados next month. Entries for the Bushy Park Motorsports Inc (BPMSI) Race Meet on Sunday, July 10, open today (Wednesday) at Motorsport Services, Haggatt Hall and will close next Friday, July 1.
