SOL RALLY BARBADOS WEB SITE RELAUNCHED

In line with many other elements of the Barbados Rally Club’s 20th Anniversary running of its inaugural International All-Stage Rally, the official Sol Rally Barbados 2010 web site – www.rallybarbados.bb - has been refreshed. The new-look site went ‘live’ on Wednesday (May 5), a timely re-launch less than four weeks before the event itself . . . and just in time for the anticipated ‘spike’ in internet traffic.

PAUL BIRD ‘IN TRAINING’ FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Runner-up to Kris Meeke in Sol Rally Barbados for the past two years, Britain’s Paul Bird is taking his third crack at the Caribbean’s biggest annual International motor sport event very seriously – once again, his rally car will travel south by air, giving him extra time to brush up on his tarmac technique in readiness for Sol RB2010 on May 29/30.

By the end of May, the 2010 Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships will have passed their half-way point. With four rounds run to date, some patterns are already emerging . . . and, with three more to run off at Shell V-Power King of the Hill and Sol Rally Barbados – each day is a separate round – island competitors are preparing for the high-pressure highlight of their season.

SCOTSMAN’S SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2010 MARATHON

Scottish rally driver Kenny Hall completed a 26-hour marathon this week, the latest stage of his preparations for Sol Rally Barbados 2010 (May 29/30), which celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the inaugural running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) International All-Stage Rally.

SKEETE WINS AUTOMOTIVE ART SHAKEDOWN STAGES

Roger Skeete continued his winning ways on tarmac with a decisive victory in Sunday’s (April 25) Automotive Art Shakedown Stages, which provided a dramatic preview for next month’s Sol Rally Barbados. Among the stars of the day was Josh Read, an impressive fifth overall among five two-wheel-drive cars to finish in the top 10.

Scrutineering: both the day and venue for Local & International Scrutineering have been changed; this important part of the build-up to Sol RB2010 will now be staged on Saturday, May 22, in the spacious grounds of Simpson Motors, Warrens, St Michael. Sol RB2010 Chairman Barry Gale explains: “Our final plans will be revealed shortly, but we’re aiming to increase the activity at Scrutineering significantly, also to create a more formal segment in the early evening for an official welcome.

CELEBRATION TIME FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Sol Rally Barbados 2010 (May 29/30) will mark the 20th Anniversary of the inaugural running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) International All-Stage Rally with a fresh new look: all but one of the event’s special stage venues has undergone some significant modification, while the restructured route abounds with changes over the two days.
