Rallycross Champion O’Donovan for Sol Rally Barbados

Nearly three decades after he first entered, former British Rallycross Champion Ollie O’Donovan will finally get to compete in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) blue riband event this year. He will drive a Hyundai i20 R5 run by island regular Andy Scott’s Albatec Racing outfit, alongside European Rally Championship leader New Zealander Hayden Paddon in a similar Hyundai and Scott’s own Ford Fiesta S2000T in Sol Rally Barbados 2023 (June 9-11), also King of the Hill the previous weekend.

On their debut in the event’s World Rally Car class, Dane Skeete and Tyler Mayhew won Sol Rally Barbados 2019, the 30th running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event; after a weekend of high drama and a rarely-seen level of attrition among the front-runners, their margin of victory in the Sol/CO Williams Sand & Lime/Automotive Art Subaru Impreza WRC S12B was just over one minute.

The winds of change look set to blow through Sol Rally Barbados next year, as the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), which celebrated its 60th Anniversary in 2017, marks the 30th running of its blue riband event. With the two Ford Focus World Rally Cars which have won six of the past seven events currently advertised for sale in the UK and the Club preparing to switch to its new 2019 to 2021 Vehicle Regulations, exciting times are ahead for island rallying.

Carter’s Pit-Stop Stages opens 2018 BRC season

Former Rallycross Champion Andy Scott confirmed today (April 18) that he will drive a newly-acquired Ford Fiesta R5 in Sol Rally Barbados 2018, having had such “a great experience” on his debut last year in a rented Ford Escort MkII. An excited Scott landed in the island yesterday (Tuesday) from his home in Dumfries, Scotland, just 72 hours after the Fiesta arrived at the Bridgetown Port, and will drive the car in anger for the first time in Sunday’s (April 22) Carter’s Pit Stop Stages.
