PANTON AND FENNELL WIN CARTER’S PIT-STOP STAGES

Watson is top 2wd but Clarke surprises them all

Jamaica’s Jeff Panton and Mike Fennell Jnr won the Carter’s Pit-Stop Stages on Sunday (April 22) in their Rubis/Sandals Barbados/KIG Ford Focus WRC06, an ideal start to the reigning Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Champion Driver’s title defence. The final test before Flow King of the Hill and Sol Rally Barbados, the 10-stage, 42-kilometre event put the 38 starters through their paces, the weather also playing its part in the challenge.

DARYL CLARKE IS 2016 RALLY CLUB CHAMPION DRIVER

Mayers & Read share Winter Sprint victories

Daryl Clarke will be crowned the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Champion Driver for 2016 following two wins in the season finale in yesterday’s (Sunday) BRC Winter Sprint in the north of the island. While victory is well-deserved after Clarke had lost the coveted title twice in the last four years in tie-break deciders, it was a bitter-sweet day, as he badly damaged his car in an accident on the day’s final stage.

CLARKE NEW LEADER OF RALLY CLUB TITLE CHASE

Daryl Clarke is the new leader of the annual chase to claim the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) coveted Champion Driver title, after claiming his fifth consecutive Modified 2 class win in the BRC Summer Nights Rally last month (August 29). Victory in the Roberts Manufacturing/Amir’s Chicken/Valvoline/MQI Collision Repair Honda Civic came on a day when other front-runners hit trouble.

As competitors prepare for the final event in the 2014 Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Driver’s and Class Championships, front-runners Daryl Clarke, Rhett Watson and Stuart White are looking to the dropped score rule to give them the edge to claim the prestigious Champion Driver title.

LIME AND BANKS SUPPORT BRC SUMMER STAGES

Competitors in the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Driver’s and Class Championships begin the final stage of the 2014 season on Saturday, August 30, in the BRC Summer Nights Tarmac Stages, in association with LIME and Banks Beer. Organisers expect a good turn-out, with only three more counting events before year-end, and with an enhanced points system in use for this one event.

WATSON DRAWS LEVEL WITH CLARKE IN TITLE CHASE

With five rounds run and just three to go, Daryl Clarke and Rhett Watson are now joint leaders in the battle to become Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Champion Driver for 2014. With only eight points covering the top six drivers, however, the championship is still wide open, and with the year-end dropped score rule yet to be taken into account.

CLARKE EASES AHEAD IN VIRGIN ATLANTIC POINTS

With six of 10 rounds run in the 2012 Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships, Modified 7 leader Daryl Clarke (Honda Civic) has increased his lead in the Overall title chase, thanks to a perfect score over the two weekends of Sol Go Further King of the Hill and Sol Rally Barbados 2012.   Meanwhile, the BRC is enjoying increased competitor numbers – 63 local drivers have participated in Virgin Atlantic Championship events so far this season, an increase of 11 per cent over last year’s total at the same point of 57.

CLARKE AND CORBIN THE EARLY PACE-SETTERS

  As competitors in the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships prepare for the upcoming Valvoline Shakedown Stages – round three of 10 in this year’s series, to be run on Sunday, May 6 – Daryl Clarke and Neil Corbin are the early pace-setters in the Driver’s title chase, with Sean Gill and Ian Warren leading the four-wheel-drive and two-wheel-drive standings respectively.
