New Shelbury Construction Trophy for Driver Challenges

Chefette Restaurants has been confirmed as title sponsor of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) MudDogs Safari & Safari Novice Championships for the fifth year, continuing its enthusiastic backing for the series, which began with the awarding of Novice trophies in 2010. Competitors are now making preparations for the new season, which kicks off with Sunday’s (March 12) March Safari.

Rally Club volunteers recognised for service

More than 40 of the island’s motor sport volunteers were recognised for their commitment to the sport at the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Annual Prizegiving at The Boatyard in Bridgetown on Saturday evening (February 4), as Daryl Clarke was crowned the Club’s Champion Driver for 2016. Nearly 100 of the island’s motor sport fraternity shared in more than 120 trophies and associated awards.

Annual Prizegiving set for January

Following the conclusion of the competition season last month, just before the island’s 50th Anniversary of Independence celebrations moved into high gear, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) today confirms its list of Champions for 2016, along with the leading points-scorers across all disciplines. With such a busy calendar during Independence and the Festive Season, the Annual Prizegiving will be held in January 2017, moved from its customary November date.

Route-setters praised for “fantastic” Nassco November Safari

Triple Champions Leslie Alleyne and Chris O’Neal (Simpson Motors/Shell Spirax/Shell Rimula/Maxxis Isuzu D-Max) made certain of winning an unprecedented fourth Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship with victory on last Sunday’s (November 13) Nassco November Safari. The fourth and final round of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) off-road navigational championship started and finished at the Vaucluse Raceway in St Thomas, where spectators turned out in their numbers to enjoy the action.

Down to the wire for the MudDogs on Sunday

Competitors in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship have arrived at the last chance saloon. The 2016 title chase will go down to the wire at Sunday’s (November 13) fourth and final round, the Nassco November Safari, with a spread of just six points across the four leading crews, once dropped scores are taken into account.

Earlier date for Barbados Festival of Speed 2017

Following the success of the inaugural Barbados Festival of Speed in May 2016, Bushy Park Circuit Inc (BPCI) has confirmed Saturday, February 4, as the date for BFoS 2017. While no details of the planned content have yet been revealed, the one-day event will next year run from day into night, promising a whole new experience for spectators.

ALLEYNE, O’NEAL WIN CHEFETTE SEPTEMBER SAFARI

Leslie Alleyne and Chris O’Neal won Sunday’s (September 18) Chefette September Safari to claim their second win in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2016 Chefette MudDogs Safari & Safari Novice Championships, having already won the March Safari. In the Simpson Motors/Shell Spirax/Shell Rimula/Maxxis Isuzu D-Max, the multiple champions won by a margin of just 19 penalty points.

MUDDOGS BACK IN ACTION THIS WEEKEND

After a three-month summer break, competitors will be ready for action when the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari & Safari Novice Championships continue on Sunday (September 18) with the third of four rounds in the 2016 calendar, the Chefette September Safari.

WARD, EASTMOND JOIN ‘THE JUNE’ ROLL OF HONOUR

Two new names were added to the Roll of Honour of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) longest-running event at the weekend (June 25/26) when Michael Ward and Warrick Eastmond won the Sol June Safari. After a hard-fought overnight contest through all 11 of the island’s parishes, Ward and Eastmond (Regional Fire and Security Suzuki Jimny) prevailed by just 82 penalty points, the lowest margin of victory since 2011.

EIGHT FORMER WINNERS FOR SOL JUNE SAFARI

Eight former winners of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) longest-running event will face a tough test in this weekend’s Sol June Safari (June 25/26), as they tackle a 17-hour course leading them through all 11 of the island’s parishes. Recent rains, bringing the island drought to an end, will add more spice to what promises to be an exciting contest.
