SOL GO FURTHER BACKS ANNIVERSARY JUNE SAFARI

The Sol Group has expanded its partnership with the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), just days after the record-breaking success of Sol Rally Barbados. MUDDOGS SET FOR 55TH ANNIVERSARY JUNE SAFARI

With the dust barely settled after the record-breaking success of last weekend’s Sol Rally Barbados 2012, the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) blue riband event, preparations are in high gear for the 55th Anniversary June Safari. Taking the Club right back to its roots in navigational rallying, the event runs off over the weekend of June 23/24.   The successful running of the first June Rally on June 16, 1957 was the catalyst to the founding of the BRC, and it remains the oldest-established motor sport event in the region with a continuous history.

ALLEYNE AND O’NEAL WIN CHEFETTE APRIL SAFARI

Experience was the key to success for the crews that tackled last Saturday’s (April 14) Chefette April Safari, second round of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) MudDogs Safari Championship. After a rough drive on some very hard terrain, Reigning Champion Driver Leslie Alleyne prevailed, driving a borrowed Huzier Ltd Mahindra Pik-Up and with navigator Chris O’Neal alongside.

MUDDOGS TO BE TESTED ON CHEFETTE APRIL SAFARI

When the 22 confirmed crews line up for this Saturday’s (April 14) Chefette April Safari - the second round of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) MudDogs Safari Championship - they will be facing a tough challenge . . . unlike most events, however, this will not be a challenge created by bad weather creating muddy terrain, but man-made, because of the almost drought-like conditions of recent weeks.

MUDDOGS MAKE READY FOR CHEFETTE APRIL SAFARI

The Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) MudDogs Chairman Warren Gollop is urging crews to enter early for the Chefette April Safari, which will run off on Saturday, April 14. The second round of the BRC MudDogs Safari and Chefette MudDogs Novice Safari Championships comes just four weeks after the 2012 season’s curtain-raiser.   With the busy Easter weekend just around the corner and Friday and Monday both public holidays, Gollop’s message is clear and simple: “Remember - to win, you must first enter! There’s no rest for the wicked or for Rabid Rally-ists!

MARCH SAFARI OPENS NEW MUDDOGS SEASON

Crews contesting the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) MudDogs Safari Championship and the Chefette MudDogs Safari Novice Championship are making final preparations for the launch of the new season. The BRC MudDogs March Safari next Saturday (March 17) is the first chance to dust off the cobwebs since last year’s Nassco October Safari.   Competitors can expect a tough start the year: not only have the recent unseasonal rains made for some challenging terrain, but the route-setters know pretty much every trick in the book, as both have experience on both sides of the cab.

ALLEYNE TOPS SEASON WITH NASSCO SAFARI WIN

Leslie Alleyne and Chris Oneal fought back from fourth place at the lunch break to win Sunday’s (October 16) Nassco October Safari. It rounded off a remarkable season for former Champion Alleyne, who won three events in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) WTI MudDogs Safari Championship as Driver and one as Navigator, an achievement unlikely to be matched any time soon.

FINAL SHOWDOWN AT NASSCO SAFARI ON SUNDAY

All the key players battling for supremacy in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) WTI MudDogs Safari Championship and Chefette MudDogs Safari Novice Championship are entered for Sunday’s (October 16) Nassco October Safari, so a thrilling climax to the season is in prospect.   With three new names on the entry list, to add to those who have already competed this year, the BRC’s off-road arm is also celebrating another successful season. MudDogs Chairman Warren Gollop says: “It hardly seems possibly that we have reached the end of another season, but here we are!
