Saturday night Driver Challenge to test crews

Crews are making final preparations for round two of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2018 Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship, the April Safari this Saturday (April 14). As the Driver Challenges, which count towards the Shelbury Construction Trophy, grow in importance in the calculation of results, crews will need to be on their toes, with a night-time challenge included.

Johnson and Lynch win inaugural Class B battle

Jean-Marc Cozier and Andrew Croney kicked off their 2018 Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship campaign on Sunday (March 11) exactly as they started last year’s, with victory on the March Safari. On an all-round good day in the Country View Bar/Market Hill Farms/Westside Security Services Honda Pioneer, Cozier also claimed a clean sweep of the Driver Challenges to lead the Shelbury Construction Trophy standings.

New class structure aims to broaden participation

The Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2018 MudDogs Safari Championship kicks off with Sunday’s (March 11) March Safari, with title sponsorship from Chefette Restaurants for the fifth year. A new class structure, devised in an effort to broaden participation in the branch of the sport – navigational rallying – on which the BRC was founded in 1957, has already borne fruit, with a number of new names on the entry list.

Lifetime Achievement Awards recognise members’ contributions

Six decades of motor sport were celebrated on Saturday evening (February 3) when the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) combined its Annual Prizegiving at Mahogany Ridge, St Thomas, with a celebration of its 60th Anniversary, reached in 2017. The outstanding contributions of four long-standing members were rewarded with Lifetime Achievement Awards, while a number of the Club’s commercial partners were also recognised, along with the marshals, medical support teams and the media.

Changes at Barbados Motoring Federation ahead of new season

As the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) prepares for this weekend’s start of the 2018 motor sport season, it does so without long-standing Vice-President John Sealy, who has retired. In a heartfelt tribute to the former VP, BMF President Andrew Mallalieu acknowledged that “replacing John with just one person is impossible”, so there will be some changes in the BMF structure.

February date for Annual Prizegiving and 60th Celebrations

Following the conclusion of the competition season last month, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has today (December 8) confirmed its list of Champions for 2017, along with the leading points-scorers across all disciplines. For the second year in a row, their achievements will be celebrated at a gathering in the New Year, which will this time also serve to acknowledge and recognise individual contributions made to the Club and to the sport since the BRC was founded six decades ago, in June 1957.

Jean-Marc Cozier and Andrew Croney crowned an impressive first full season together in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship with victory in Sunday’s (November 12) final round . . . although it nearly went awry during the Country View Mud and Hill Challenge, just before the finish, when their Honda Pioneer tipped over. It was quickly righted, however, and they continued to victory.

Nassco marks 10th year of support for November Safari

Barbados Festival of Speed star turns head into town

The Twister Aerobatics Team, one of the star turns packing the eight-hour schedule for Saturday’s (October 14) Barbados Festival of Speed, will give the island a preview of the action tomorrow (Wednesday), with two spectacular air displays in their 180mph Silence SA1100 aircraft. In their first-ever display in the Americas, they will fly from Bushy Park Barbados to Cave Hill, then back along the south coast at noon and 6.00pm.

CORBIN AND EDWARDS WIN SEPTEMBER SAFARI

Former Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Safari Champions Ryan Corbin and Dustin Edwards returned to Winners’ Row last Sunday (September 17), when they won the MudDogs September Safari in the Mahogany Ridge/Corbin's Catering Services Toyota Hilux. The 2010 Champions had lagged behind the opposition in the morning, but fought back in the afternoon route to win with a total of 451 penalties.
