NO PRESSURE FOR BOURNE

With some determined driving on home ground, Paul Bourne set the fastest time in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint at Cliff in St John on Saturday evening (July 29) . . . but it was not all plain sailing.
While the remaining 28 competitors were tackling a practice run shortly after nightfall, Bourne’s crew members were working to discover why the Warrens Motors/Plus Subaru Impreza WRC had lost fuel pressure; a solution was found after half an hour or so, just in time for the first of three official timed runs.

Paul Bourne in the Warrens Motors/Plus Subaru Impreza WRC heads the entry list for the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint, to be contested on Saturday evening (July 29) at Cliff in St John . . . a speed event happening literally on his doorstep.
Eight Group winners from last month’s Rally Barbados 2006 are also listed among more than 20 entries received by mid-day Thursday; with entries not closing until that evening, and a late entry facility open until 5.00pm Friday, organisers were confident of a good turn-out.

Former Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Champion Adrian Linton is on top once again, leading the Virgin Atlantic BRC Driver’s Championship with five of the eight rounds completed. With more than 50 drivers so far having scored points, just eight points cover the four drivers at the head of the table – and all campaigning two-wheel-drive cars.

Action at the Black Bess Plantation in St Peter is scheduled to start at 9.00am.

TEXACO CONTINUES BRC RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP DEAL

For the second year, Texaco West Indies Limited will support the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) through sponsorship of the five-round Texaco BRC Rally Championship. By awarding points for overall success, rather than class position, this championship focuses on those front-running teams with the potential for outright victory and encourages and rewards that combination of attack and consistency that is the hallmark of true champions.
