REGIONAL FIRE & SECURITY SAFARI RUNS OFF SUNDAY

Twenty-three crews have been confirmed for Sunday’s (September 11) Regional Fire & Security September Safari, round four of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) WTI MudDogs Safari Championship and Chefette MudDogs Safari Novice Championship. With recent weather patterns promising ideal conditions for the BRC’s MudDogs arm, a day of good competition is in prospect.   With crews who participate in all five Championship rounds required to drop their worst score at the end of the season, Sunday’s event could be crucial, with just the Nassco October Safari to come before the final reckoning. All the leading crews are involved this weekend, along with six competitors making their first MudDogs appearance of the season, bringing the total number of competitors for 2011 to 75.   Applying the dropped score rule to the current positions reveals just how close the battles are: in each of the WTI Navigators and Drivers title chases, eight points cover the leading three competitors; among the Chefette Novices, there’s a 10-point spread across the leading three Navigators, while the Driver battle is even more intense, with five drivers within 10 points.   On Sunday, the first crew is scheduled to leave the Barbados Clay Target Shooting Association (BCTSA) Clubhouse, Searles, Christ Church, at 8.01am; the lunch stop-over will be at 11.30am at the ARMAG Vegetable Outlet and the finish at approximately 4.30pm at Searles Quarry, where some special Driver Challenges are planned. The route has been set by experienced navigational rallyists Biddy Barber and Phillip McConney and rechecked by Biddy’s son Brett and Graham Proverbs.   Chairman of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) MudDogs Warren Gollop says: “Everyone is up for Sunday’s event. Biddy and Phillip have done a great job with the route, and the weather looks as though it is going to give us a fantastic day. Thanks again to Regional Fire & Security for sponsoring this weekend’s event, also to Williams Trading Inc and Chefette for their long-term support of the Championships.   “Just a reminder that we’re having some specially-extended challenges at the conclusion of the Safari, so I hope there will be a good turn-out at Searles Quarry, where refreshments will be available!”   The Prizegiving for the Regional Fire & Security September Safari will be held once results are declared final at the Barbados Clay Target Shooting Association Club House at Searles, Christ Church on Monday, September 12.     Regional Fire & Security Safari – September 11 2011 WTI MudDogs Safari Championship, round 4 2011 Chefette MudDogs Safari Novice Championship, round 4   Running order – WTI Pro class 1 Edson Arthur/Renata Roett (Toyota Hilux) 3 Judy-Ann Bradshaw/Peter Bradshaw (Land Rover Defender) 4 Nicolas Lorde/Warrick Eastmond (Niccolls & Edghill Construction/Sam Lordes/Comfeet Suzuki Vitara) 5 Mark Western/Robin Hinds (Yardman/Kar Parts Store Nissan Patrol) 8 Kerry Renee/Jason Downey (Suzuki Samurai) 9 Audley Croney/Jeremy Croney (CC Motorsports Suzuki Samurai) 10 Adrian Sinckler/Andre Murrell (Suzuki Samurai) 11 Michael Ward/Willie Hinds (Suzuki Samurai) 12 Sean Mottley/Michelle Oliver (CIBC First Caribbean International Bank Suzuki Vitara) 13 Ryan Corbin/Dustin Edwards (Corbin's Catering Services/Mahogany Ridge/Crane & Equipment/SDRR Hydraulic & Industrial Spares Toyota Hilux) 15 Ben Norris/Darnley Rayside (Electric Avenue Land Rover Discovery) 17 Sean Dowding/Kirk Watkins (Axis Inc/Aerotec Services Inc/Huzier Ltd Mahindra Pik-Up) 18 Chris Armstrong/Wayne Clarke (Toyota Hilux) 21 Paul Marshall/Shane Marshall (Mitsubishi L200) 22 Leslie Alleyne/Chris Oneal (Maxxis Tyres Mitsubishi Pajero) 23 Gregory Dickenson/Anna-Maria Dickenson (Toyota Hilux)   Chefette Novice class 2 Justin Inniss/Damien Moore (Amalie Motor Oil/Quik Liners/International Beer Imports Volkswagen Manx) 6 Alexander Kellman/Gary Mendes (Lex Fitness/MK Rentals Suzuki Samurai) 7 Matthew Durant/Trina Griffith (Suzuki Jimny) 14 Hadley Green/Dane McConney (Hunte Auto Spares/Automotive Art/Scorpion Toyota Hilux) 16 Dean Springer/Steve Singh (Eastern Veterinary Clinic Suzuki Sidekick) 19 Aswad Bannister/Nyere Jones (Toyota Hilux) 20 Derek Pinto/Jamal Brathwaite (Suzuki Samurai)   For further media information: robin@bradfax.com web sites: www.muddogsbarbados.com; www.barbadosrallyclub.com
