MOTOR SPORT VOLUNTEERS PRAISED FOR COMMITMENT

Senior motor sport volunteers keen to enhance their skill sets were praised at the weekend as they assembled for a pre-season training programme organised by the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) and majority funded by the sport’s world governing body, the Federation Internationale d’Automobile (FIA).   In his welcome address, Chairman of the Board of the National Sports Council, Seibert Straughan, said: “I am delighted that the international governing body continues to be supportive of our development as a motor sporting nation.

RALLY CLUB CELEBRATES THE SEASON’S END

More than 70 members of the island’s motor sport fraternity were honoured at the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Annual Prizegiving on Friday evening (November 16) at Sugar Ultra Lounge, St Lawrence Gap; nearly 120 awards were presented, including return tickets to the UK, courtesy of Virgin Atlantic, title sponsor of the BRC Driver’s and Class Championships.

ALLEYNE AND O’NEAL WIN NASSCO NOVEMBER SAFARI

Leslie Alleyne and Chris O’Neal (Simpson Motors/Valvoline Isuzu D-Max) claimed their third victory in the five rounds of this year’s Barbados Rally Club (BRC) MudDogs Safari Championship in last Sunday’s (November 11) Nassco November Safari, but it was not enough to unseat the Champions-elect for 2012, Chris Armstrong and Wayne Clarke.   Armstrong and ‘Mork’ Clarke, who won the season’s other two events, were the route-setters for this year’s finale, which was described by competitors as a “fair and fun event”.

MUDDOGS PREPARE FOR 2012 SEASON FINALE

Competitors in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2012 MudDogs Safari Championship and the Chefette MudDogs Safari Novice Championship are making final preparations for Sunday’s (November 11) fifth and final round, the Nassco November Safari.   With route-setters Chris Armstrong and Wayne Clarke, Champions-elect for 2012, revealing little of what they have in store for the 20 crews listed on the running order published today, an intriguing day is in prospect.

NASSCO NOVEMBER SAFARI THE FINAL SHOWDOWN

The Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) off-roaders face the ultimate challenge in the final round of the 2012 MudDogs Safari and Chefette MudDogs Safari Novice Championships. The Nassco November Safari on Sunday, November 11, is being set by two of the island’s most experienced navigational competitors, reigning Champion Navigator Wayne Clarke and his driving partner of many seasons, Chris Armstrong.   With two wins this season – in the Chefette March Safari and the Shelbury Construction September Safari – plus two more top three finishes, they are already Champions elect for 2012.
