RALLY CLUB CONFIRMS 2017 ROLL OF HONOUR

February date for Annual Prizegiving and 60th Celebrations

Following the conclusion of the competition season last month, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has today (December 8) confirmed its list of Champions for 2017, along with the leading points-scorers across all disciplines. For the second year in a row, their achievements will be celebrated at a gathering in the New Year, which will this time also serve to acknowledge and recognise individual contributions made to the Club and to the sport since the BRC was founded six decades ago, in June 1957.

Barbados Festival of Speed star turns head into town

The Twister Aerobatics Team, one of the star turns packing the eight-hour schedule for Saturday’s (October 14) Barbados Festival of Speed, will give the island a preview of the action tomorrow (Wednesday), with two spectacular air displays in their 180mph Silence SA1100 aircraft. In their first-ever display in the Americas, they will fly from Bushy Park Barbados to Cave Hill, then back along the south coast at noon and 6.00pm.

FIA President Todt praises island motor sport fraternity

President of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Jean Todt heaped praise on the island’s motor sport fraternity shortly before he left Barbados on Tuesday (August 8) after a one-day visit in his capacity as the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety. Speaking to the media at Bushy Park, he said: “In Barbados, a small country of less than 300,000 population, there are a lot of skilled people with energy and passion, which makes me very happy.”

BARBADOS RALLY CLUB URGED TO LOOK TO THE FUTURE

60th Anniversary celebrations to reflect founding values

Three months ahead of events to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), members have been urged not only to celebrate the Club’s past achievements but also to consider the future, in particular to seek out the new generation needed to carry the BRC into the next few decades. This was the message from Chairman Mark Hamilton in his annual report at last night’s (Monday) AGM at the Barbados Clay Target Shooting Association (BCTSA) Clubhouse at Searles, Christ Church.
