Driving the Chefette/LIME/Slam 101/MQI/Banks/Castrol Ford Focus WRC07, Paul ‘Surfer’ Bourne recovered from some early dramas to snatch a two-second victory on the final stage of the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Winter Gravel Rally. Run on a slightly ‘tweaked’ Black Bess course in St Peter yesterday (October 28), it was the final round of 2012 BRC Virgin Atlantic Championship.

BRITAIN’S SWANN FOR GROUP N AT BLACK BESS

IRISH FANS PLAN FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2013

NEW REGULATIONS FOR THE BARBADOS RALLY CLUB

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has confirmed the revised vehicle regulations under which its events will run during the next three-year cycle from 2013 to 2015. Among the key changes are the abandonment of the lower-capacity production classes and the division of World Rally Cars into two classes; this reflects the performance gap between cars of different periods and allows the inclusion of the most recent World Cars, such as the Ford Fiesta and MINI.

CLOSE FINISH FOR VIRGIN ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP

After nine hotly-contested rounds of the 2012 Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships, fought out since the curtain-raiser in March, the chase for the prestigious Champion Driver title will go down to the wire at the Club’s final event of the season, the BRC Winter Gravel Rally at Black Bess on October 28.   With a perfect score in earlier events, Modified 7 leader Daryl Clarke (Honda Civic) was hot favourite to win the title, which is based on each driver’s class total, minus the season’s lowest score.

SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2013 DATES ANNOUNCED

On-line entries for Sol Rally Barbados 2013 will open on November 1 on the event’s official web site - www.rallybarbados.bb – as the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) targets yet another milestone in the 24-year history of its premier event. Subject to final ratification by the island’s governing body, the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF), Sol RB13 will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 1/2, with Scrutineering and the Sol Go Further King of the Hill ‘shakedown’ the previous weekend, May 25/26.

ARMSTRONG AND CLARKE WIN SHELBURY SAFARI

Winners of the opening round of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2012 MudDogs Safari Championship back in March, Chris Armstrong and Wayne Clarke (Toyota Hilux), added a second victory to their tally on Sunday (September 16), when they defeated all-comers - and the elements - in the Shelbury Construction September Safari.
